Do you have a verified Hunter Safety Card?
Just because you have a Hunter Safety Card, does not mean it is verified with Colorado Parks and Wildlife. This is VERY important. It means the difference between a 12 hour, two day training course and a four hour training course. You will need to contact Colorado Parks and Wildlife to make sure. My Hunter Safety Card was NOT verified and I have had hunting licenses for years. When you sign up with the County Sheriff, the card that comes back will specify if you need the Basic 4hour course or the Extended 12 hour course.

Start the process with CPW
Begin the application process on the CPW website (you can use the link above).

Get a Name-Based Background Check
You can check with your local Sheriff's office and ask if they have any recommendations. You can go to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), or find out who your local school or hospital uses.

Contact your local Sheriff
The application you filled out with CPW goes to the Local Sheriff. They will require the Name-Based background check, government issued photo ID and collect any fees ($52.00 for CPW and any other fees required to this point.
The Sheriff will review the documentation and issue or deny an Eligibility Card (EC).

Get your training
Your Eligibility Card will indicate if you need the 4 or 12 hour training. Choose To Carry will be happy to provide the training required.

Go make your purchase.
The FFL will be able to determine if you have completed the training. You will still need to complete the Federal Background check to purchase a firearm.
